Schools programmes are on offer at Plas Llanelly House from Early Years to Key Stage 2.

The 1 hour workshops take place in Llanelly House which is equipped for exciting interactive education sessions. A learning trail is also incorporated to help pupils make the most of a tour of the Grand Georgian Home with newly renovated rooms.

Margrave Mouse Trail

Time: 1 hour

Follow Margrave the Mouse on his trail around Llanelly House and use our special trail sheet and activities to explore the stories of the Georgian and Victorian families who lived here.

Children will:

  • Discover the hiding places for Margrave the Mouse as you travel on your trail.
  • Immerse yourself in our new historic film of Llanelli using state of the art technology to bring the story and portraits to life.
  • A special visit to Lady Stepney’s Chambers to see some rare art work and where the mistress herself tells you of her life as the Lady of the House.
  • Explore the housemaids’ quarters from Victorian times and check out an unusual gallery.
  • Materials provided: The use of folders and pencils. Activity sheets to use on the trail and to take away.

Llanelly Main Library:

If you wish to come to Llanelli for the day, Llanelli’s Main Library is next door and is willing to offer an afternoon or morning session of research for the children. The theme of the visit would be researching various topics touched upon during the visit to Llanelly House.

The Church is directly opposite and may be able to accommodate a visit from your school for a morning or afternoon session by highlighting the links between the Stepney and Chambers families and the history of the Church.
